RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star La Voix has sadly departed from Strictly Come Dancing. Here’s everything you need to know about her withdrawal.
The 45-year-old drag star missed last weekend’s (15 November) Blackpool special because of a rehearsal injury. At the time, a BBC statement read: “In line with the rules of Strictly Come Dancing, La Voix and Aljaž will receive a bye through to next week when it is hoped they will be able to dance again.”
La Voix, whose real name is Chris Dennis, was hoping to return to the dance floor this weekend with partner Aljaž Škorjanec. However, sadly, she has been advised by medical staff to step back.
Why has La Voix left Strictly Come Dancing?
At the start of Saturday’s (22 November) episode, presenter Tess Daly announced that La Voix had to withdraw on medical advice.
In a statement on Instagram, La Voix said she is “absolutely devastated” about having to leave the show.
“This isn’t the glittering exit | ever imagined, and it breaks my heart to feel like I’m letting people down,” she continued.
“My spirit wanted to keep dancing but my foot has other ideas! Thank you for every cheer, every vote, and every sparkle of support – it’s meant the world to me.”
She concluded that it wasn’t the ending she had imagined, but that she will “cherish this forever.”
What injury made La Voix leave Strictly Come Dancing?
Exact details about La Voix’s Strictly exit haven’t been disclosed.
However, announcements have shared it’s a “rehearsal injury.” Also, La Voix’s announcement implies that it is a foot injury, a key part of the body for dancing!
La Voix’s departure is the latest in a series of injuries this season. Neighbours star Stefan Dennis withdrew from Strictly because of injury. Also, ahead of the show, TV personality Dani Dyer pulled out before the show got underway after breaking her ankle.
As a result of La Voix’s leaving, no contestants were eliminated over the weekend. The votes will carry over into next week’s show.
We’re going to miss La Voix on the dance competition. Ahead of the latest series, La Voix told PinkNews that she was making history by being “the only person ever going on Strictly [who’s] going to be dressing down for the live shows”.
Furthermore, after hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly announced last month that they were stepping down after this year, La Voix nominated herself to take over the reins.
