Tom Read Wilson has been celebrated as a “national treasure” after showing off his “real voice” in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The Celebs Go Dating client co-ordinator, who is gay, has joined the show, where he’s become something of a favourite after demonstrating his ability to change accents.

In Monday night’s (24 November) episode, the campers sat around chatting when Wilson slipped casually from the soft voice for which he’s known to a more-gruff tone. “It’s all a masquerade, it’s f****** exhausting,” he said in his new, deeper voice, before pretending to hit on actress Kelly Brook.

Later, in the Bush Telegraph, Wilson kept up the act, describing the “Tom character with all the fancy language” as “so exhausting”. He also mimicked fellow contestant, rapper Aitch, by repeating the takeaway order: “One pepperoni pizza, jalapeños and two curry sauce,” in a Mancunian accent.

The whole thing had fans wondering which was Wilson’s real voice and which was fake.

Others on social media proclaimed him a “national treasure”. One fan wrote: “He’s so good at it,” while another said: “He’s just fabulous.”

Wilson’s Celebs Go Dating co-star, Anna Williamson, appeared on Lorraine to support her friend and confirmed that he’s not putting on a voice. “I can now clarify, absolutely, Tom Read Wilson speaks like that,” she said. “That is not an act.

“I hate the phrase ‘what you see is what you get’, but he’s the kindest guy. To meet someone so unapologetically himself, he is so kind. Everyone loves Tom.”
