‘What time is Stranger Things released?’ may have been a common question this morning for UK fans of the series disappointed to be waking up to find that season five is unavailable.

However, all is not lost. The fifth and final season of the sci-fi horror series is very nearly with us, it’s just arriving a few hours later than we first thought – and technically tomorrow.

When Netflix revealed the dates for when the new season would be available to stream on the platform it said the first block would be available on Wednesday 26 November.

The next few episodes would then be available on Christmas Day with the final episode streaming from New Year’s Eve.

However, UK viewers will essentially have to wait till the next day on each occasion to get the episodes as they are set to premiere in Netflix in the US at 5pm (Pacific Time) and 8pm (Eastern Time).

That means that the first four episodes will be available in the UK from 1am on Thursday (27 November). It also means the second volume will be available on Boxing Day and the final episode on New Year’s Day.

A synopsis for the final season reads: “The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna.

“But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding.

“As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before.
