Andrea Thompson has spoke out after ‘trans woman’ Jammie Booker was stripped of her World’s Strongest Woman title, saying she is “drained”, but wanted to “reach out” to Booker.
Booker’s Instagram bio notes that she is a personal trainer and professional strongwoman. She has never spoken publicly about whether she is a cisgender or transgender woman.
On 23 November, Booker was crowned the winner of the Official Strongman Games World Championships 2025.
However, on Tuesday (27 November), organisers of the event, Strongman Corporation, took to Facebook to announce that Booker had been stripped of her title after they were “informed” that “an athlete who is biologically male and who now identifies as female competed in the Women’s Open category”.
‘I have wanted to reach out to her’
Speaking to ITV News Anglia, Thompson said: “It’s frustrating, it’s happy, lots of emotions. I’m quite drained now.”
She added that “there was no real celebration” and that she has thought about reaching out to Booker.
“I have wanted to reach out to her just because she’s a human being at the end of the day and I suspect she’s received a lot of backlash from this but again, I’m also very annoyed with what she’s done and the dishonesty and cloud that’s been brought onto our sport.”
Thompson posted about her delayed win on social media, writing that it “has been the most exhausting experience” of her career.
“What should be a momentous occasion has sadly been overshadowed by scandal and dishonesty from someone who was welcomed into our crazy sport,” she wrote, before claiming that the sport encourages “women to celebrate themselves without being judged on how society says they should be”.
She went on to claim that her fellow competitors have received insults “just for being women”, adding “this needs to stop,” in reference to speculation that Booker is a trans woman who competed in the women’s category.
“For now, ladies, keep showing up. Take up space. Be loud. Be proud. Show your daughter how amazing you are,” she concluded.
