The woman of the moment, Lily Allen, has sent the internet into meltdown after revealing her new album West End Girl will be released on USB sticks shaped like butt plugs.
Yes, really.
The singer unveiled the eyebrow-raising limited edition merch on Tuesday (December 3), with her official store now taking pre-orders for the X-rated-looking gadgets, which are priced at £24.99.
The devices come preloaded with the album – but Lily insists they’re strictly for storing songs, not… anything else. We can’t stress that enough.
A disclaimer on the site stresses the limited-edition items are “novelty USB devices intended for data storage only.”
Her army of fans were quick to point out the not-so-subtle link to her track Pussy Palace, which includes the eyebrow-lifting line: “Duane Reade bag with the handles tied / Sex toys, butt plugs, lube inside.”
And that’s where things get messy, as it’s widely believed the lyric is a dig at her ex-husband, Stranger Things star David Harbour.
The couple met on celebrity dating app Raya in 2019. Allen moved her two daughters from London to New York to live with Harbour, but its believed the relationship began to unravel shortly afterwards.
Released on 24 October, West End Girl delves into the aftermath of Allen’s split from Harbour, whom she married in 2020 and separated from in late 2024. The singer reportedly wrote the entire record in just 10 days last December, immediately after the pair’s breakup.
West End Girl has been called a revenge album, but Lily Allen says she doesn’t see it that way. “That’s what’s fun about this record; it’s viscerally like going through the motions,” she told Interview Magazine. “At the time, I was really trying to process things, and that’s great in terms of the album, but I don’t feel confused or angry now.”
She also told Interview Magazine that “some of (the album) is based on truth and some of it is fantasy.” So, does David Harbour really own a “Duane Reade bag with butt plugs inside?” It seems unlikely we’ll ever know for sure. But you can buy a USB stick shaped like one, if you want.
