Alexander Skarsgård’s next project revealed following success of queer movie Pillion

Alexander Skarsgård is following up his gay biker film Pillion with the gothic horror The Wolf Will Tear Your Immaculate Hands

The film will be the English-language debut of Swedish-Costa Rican writer-director Nathalie Álvarez Mesén. The film, which is currently in production, is Mesén’s follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2021 drama Clara Sola.

This role will be a new challenge for Skarsgård, who wrestled with a dom-sub dynamic in the drama Pillion. The 49-year-old played Ray, a chiselled, leather-clad biker gang member. Within 10 minutes, viewers see a lot of Ray, setting the tone for the film.

Skarsgård starred opposite Harry Melling as a meek gay traffic warden and barbershop quartet singer. On paper, the pair may not seem compatible, but Pillion explores their unique connection.

The Wolf Will Tear Your Immaculate Hands sees Skarsgård in a Scandinavian feature for the first time in a decade.

The film will see Skarsgård play a British widower in the 1880s Pacific Northwest. He hires a Native American governess, educated in a Christian mission school, to teach his two daughters.

“While preparing the eldest for an arranged marriage, a force within her begins to awaken, threatening everything she has been taught,” the logline continues.

The governess is to be played by Darla Contois, while Bronte Carmichael and Lily La Torre portray Skarsgård’s daughters.

‘I can’t wait for the film to reach audiences!’

The film will be co-penned by Mesén and Icelandic novelist, poet and screenwriter Sjón. Sjón’s previous screenwriting credits include The Northman, Lamb and also the upcoming Werwulf.

The film is said to deepen Mesén’s “signature blend of intimate character work and magic realism, expanding it into a darker, more haunting period world.”

“I feel incredibly lucky to work with a cast who dive into their roles with such generosity, playfulness, and openness,” Mesén also revealed.

“Collaborating with such a talented group of people from all around the world has been a privilege.”

Additionally, Mesén stated: “Darla embodies Isabel with visceral emotional depth, and Alexander portrays the father with a truth and volatility that ground the story. I can’t wait for the film to reach audiences!”

Skarsgård’s latest role adds to his impressive filmography. He played tech mogul Lukas Matsson in the drama series Succession. For this, he was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards and also a Golden Globe Award.

Furthermore, whatever his next role delivers, you can count on the actor to deliver on the red carpet (halter tops and risqué shirts) and share a hilarious, raunchy anecdote.
