Internet mocks man’s claim every Netflix show ‘turns into gay porn’

A conservative commentator has been mocked after claiming that every Netflix series “turns into gay porn.”

On Saturday (6 December) Jeffrey Younger, an anti-trans activist known for his custody battle with his ex-wife in which he tried to stop his child from transitioning, took to X/Twitter to share that he’d cancelled his Netflix subscription.

“Every show starts normal, then turns into gay porn,” he wrote.

Among those who responded to Younger’s assertion that Netflix is full of “gay porn” (we can’t see any) was one person who wrote, “now you know how I feel when I’m subjected to watching heterosexual couples kiss on any TV programme.”

To that, Younger replied: “Heterosexuality is normal. Gay isn’t.”

Someone else added: “‘Porn’ is overstating it a *bit* much,” to which Younger cited “Mr. Robot, S1E3″ as evidence (despite the fact the Rami Malek-fronted show originally aired on USA Network during its original run from 2015-2019).

Another account asked “Stranger Things?” which the commentator confirmed he had been referring to.

Now, we’ve watched all of Stranger Things and the only sex scenes that come to mind are between Steve (Joe Keery) and Nancy (Natalia Dyer) in season one and (maybe) between Nancy and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) in season two.

And while there are queer characters such as Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) and Robin (Maya Hawke), neither have been involved in any sex scenes on the show. So, it really lays bare the ridiculous nature of Younger’s comments.

“Bro confused his pornhub tab with Netflix,” chimed one X/Twitter user in response. “Let us know what you watched so I can put it in my list,” asked another commenter.

Someone else joked, “Oh no. How will Netflix survive,” while another commenter put, “Netflix’s algorithm is tailored to your personal preferences. What are you trying to say with this?”

Netflix does have some steamy LGBTQ+ content. Elité springs to mind, a show known for its depictions of gay sex. But porn it is not!

And Younger is clearly not referring to Heated Rivalry, which has set the internet alight with its explicit sex scenes. Currently, the show is only available on Crave in Canada and HBO/HBO Max in the US and Australia. It’s not on Netflix at all, as far as we know.

No, this feels like a conservative’s attempt to make themselves relevant and stir up a little controversy for the sake of it.
