A clip of RuPaul forgetting arguably his most famous catchphrase has gone viral on X.com, after initially being shared on RuPaul’s own official TikTok account.
In a face-to-camera recording, the Drag Race host tries to say: “If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?” but things don’t exactly go according to plan.
“So, how you gonna love somebody else… wait how’d it go? How you… you CAN’T love yourself,” he begins.
“Hmm, yeah. I got this, I got this,” he continues, before rattling off the phrase in full. “There it is!” he says, triumphantly, before laughing in his typically infectious style.
The clip was shared to X with the caption: “RuPaul forgetting her own catchphrase has me dying.”
The clip has since been viewed almost 350,000 times, and the reactions are almost as funny as the original video. One of the top comments is: “Oh she’s ready for the Geriatric RUnit.”
A second person also joked about Ru’s age, writing: “i mean, mother will reach 98 years old this year.” A third also chimed in with: “I love that gorgeous, talented, unhinged 80 year old man.” RuPaul is actually only 65.
Several other people were particularly amused by Ru saying, loudly, “you CAN’T love yourself,” with one commenter clipping that specific moment and captioning it: “Evil RuPaul.”
‘Ru and her side quests again’
Mama Ru also went viral back in August, after performing an epic DJ set in Texas, with fans claiming the icon was “giving the kids what we want”.
RuPaul performed a set at The Concourse Project in Austin on 9 August, with the drag icon, singer and host of RuPaul’s Drag Race claiming in an Instagram video ahead of the performance that “we will have a good time, Texas!”
Videos of the set showed the then 64-year-old in a casual hoodie and glasses behind the decks blasting house music, as well as shouting his famous quote, “If you don’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?” to the screaming crowd.
At least he didn’t forget his lines that time.
