Social media users are spreading a new rumour claiming that the late Rob and Michele Reiner’s son, Nick, is trans.
On Sunday (14 December), Rob and Michele were found dead in their Los Angeles home. Police are treating the incident as a homicide.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed that the couple’s son Nick Reiner, 32, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He also faces a special allegation for allegedly using a knife.
Despite his arrest in connection with the crime, social media users are focused elsewhere, circulating a rumour that he was in the process of transitioning.

The rumour began circulating in mid-December, mostly on Facebook. The main post, circulated by Jonathan Gregory, who has more than 80,000 followers, claims that Nick “had recently begun transitioning into a woman”.
The post goes on to wildly claim that his fictional transition was what led him to his attack his parents.
There is no evidence to support the claim that Reiner is transitioning, and a closer look at the Facebook post shows there is no factual basis.
Not only is the profile listed as being ‘comedy’, but the owner also clearly enjoys poking fun at everything, even claiming in the page’s intro that he is a “digital content creator for the Trump Administration”.
He also lists several websites on the page: one for a “News Max”, which leads nowhere because it’s a made-up company used to bolster Gregory’s satirical content, and another that links to his comedy website.
The claim that Nick is trans is completely false. He is currently being held without bail.
Rob Reiner was a Democrat who was an outspoken activist on several notable causes, including anti-smoking, environmental issues and LGBTQ+ rights.
He advocated same-sex marriage in the US and used his platform to support the LGBTQ+ community and all minority groups.
