Texas attorney general Ken Paxton is actively encouraging people to report trans people who use bathrooms that align with their chosen gender.

Paxton, who once called the LGBTQ+ community “immoral”, has uploaded a form to his website that allows the public to report trans people in line with Senate Bill 8.

The bill, also known as the Texas Women’s Privacy Act, requires government buildings, schools and colleges to restrict access to bathrooms and locker rooms based on sex assigned at birth.

Institutions that allow trans people to enter bathrooms that align with their chosen gender will be fined with $25,000 first-time fines and $125,000 subsequent penalties per day. The bill also enables individuals to sue agencies if they are impacted by a violation of the law.

Paxton launched the form on his website on Wednesday (17 December). The form requires a copy of the initial complaint to the accused institution and also has an option for submitting photos, despite the fact that taking photos inside a restroom is illegal.

Paxton blames ‘racial leftism’ for requirement of Senate Bill 8

In a statement about the tip line, Paxton said: “The Texas Women’s Privacy Act was passed to ensure that women and girls in Texas are protected from mentally ill men wanting to violate their basic right to privacy in places like restrooms and locker rooms.

“It’s absolute insanity that action like this is even needed, but unfortunately in the day and age of radical leftism, it is.”

He concluded: “Together, we will uproot and bring justice to any state agency or political subdivision that opens the door for men to violate women’s privacy, dignity, and safety,”

In July, Angela Paxton, the 62-year-old politician’s wife, filed for divorce over what she described as “recent discoveries.”
