Merry Christmas and possibly also congratulations to JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes; as the pair have sparked engagement rumours yet again.
The “Karma” singer, 22, and her Love Island boyfriend, 33, recently sat down to discuss their relationship, which started on Celebrity Big Brother. They also hinted that they are entertaining the idea of taking their romance to the next level with one of them getting down on one knee.
Speaking to The Sun in a joint interview, the pair discussed marriage proposals while wearing a matching Christmas cardigan and jumper.
Chris Hughes noted: “You always get people who get engaged on Christmas morning.”
“You see it on Instagram—every year, you’re gonna see somebody who gets engaged. I like the idea of it not being at a time where it could be expected.”
JoJo Siwa gave it a second and then suggested her own idea: “What if I got him a ring? What if I proposed?”
However, Chris Hughes wasn’t too keen about the idea of her proposal.
“I don’t agree with it,” he stated. “I’ve spoken to people about this, before you, if I were proposed to, that would make me really uncomfortable.”
JoJo then stated that she would only propose if she felt Chris was taking too long. “I wouldn’t do it unless you waited seven years,” she said. “Then I’d be like, ‘Alright, my ass is getting down on the knee then.’”
‘What if I proposed?’
JoJo then noted to Chris the date that she would get down on one knee if he hadn’t first. “Just so you know on May 27, 2032, I will be down on one knee. I will not wait one extra day.” The pair both laughed about it.
This isn’t the first time the couple have floated marriage proposal ideas. In September, Siwa told The Sun: “A wedding is a two-person thing. So, we would have to decide what it looks like. But I do know I want a baby-blue scheme and I need to help Chris make the playlist. Otherwise, it’ll be all songs I don’t know.”
She also revealed that she was keen to have children. “It’s absolutely in my future and I don’t think it’s that far away,” the star said.
Before entering the Big Brother house and meeting Chris, JoJo was dating influencer Kath Ebbs. She broke up with Kath shortly after leaving the house and confirmed her relationship with Chris not long after.
Since her relationship with Chris went public, JoJo has commented on the “bullying” she says she’s faced from the LGBTQ+ community. Though she clarified that she was “not a lesbian“, she has continued to identify as queer since being in a relationship with Chris.
Earlier this year, she opened up about feeling a “pressure” to identify as such, saying she “boxed herself in”.
