Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie gave a wholesome response when asked about his resurfaced “Actorboy” YouTube video.
Hudson Williams and Storrie have quickly become the internet’s boyfriends after they shot to fame for the steamy gay hockey show, which follows two rising stars in the ice hockey world – closeted Canadian prodigy Shane (Williams) and bisexual Russian star Ilya (Storrie) – who begin an illicit romance.
The internet’s obsession with Storrie has led to the resurfacing of a YouTube video posted under the name “Actorboy222” when he was 12. He is now 25.
In the video, he talks confidently about wanting to be an actor when he grows up, and cites former YouTuber Jenna Marbles as an inspiration.
Speaking to Variety about the interview being seen by a whole new audience, Storrie shared wholesome words of this younger self.
‘I wanted to play pretend and play dress up’
“He was on to something. He got me here. He was part of it.”
The actor, who grew up in Odessa, Texas, continued: “I was this artist, sissy boy in West Texas that didn’t want to play football.
”I wanted to play pretend and play dress up and disappear into weird worlds and entertain and try to connect with people that way, and that was just not the norm out there.”
Commenting on what he would say to anyone who ostracised him, he shared that he has no want to villainise anyone and understands people are “hurt, insecure and sad”.
He went on to share that he feels “blessed” to have had an experience that enables him to have such a positive, and forgiving, perspective.
Storrie said of those who are nasty to others: “If you’re trying to belittle someone, it’s probably because you feel pretty small yourself because I know when I’ve been mean in the past — we’ve all done things — it’s because I felt this big,” he said, pinching his fingers close together. “I felt itty bitty.”
Heated Rivalry is available on Crave and on HBO Max in the US and Australia. The show has a UK release on Sky and streaming service NOW from 10 January.
