The creator of Heated Rivalry has dropped what we think is a pretty big hint about what season two will look like.
The LGBTQ+ sports drama stars Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams as Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander, two rival ice-hockey players who start a steamy secret romance.
The show, which will be available to UK viewers in January, has recently concluded in Canada, the US, Australia, and beyond.

Since it debuted at the end of November, the series, based on Rachel Reid’s Game Changers novels, has developed a strong grip over much of the internet thanks to a combination of good writing, intimate scenes, and Storrie and Williams’ natural chemistry.
So it comes no surprise that the series has already been renewed for a second season (with potential for a third) fuelling speculation about what storylines it could follow.
Speaking about it recently, Jacob Tierney, Heated Rivalry‘s creator and showrunner, shed some light on the timeline for season two.
Echoing previous comments, Tierney told Entertainment Weekly: “It’s not gonna be two years. It’s not even gonna be 18 months, I don’t think.”

He added: “So we’re gonna go as fast as we can, while ensuring that we’re doing as good a job as we possibly can.”
Entertainment Weekly has also reported that season two will continue with Ilya and Shane’s story after the culmination of season one which saw the two come out to Shane’s parents.
Their story continues in Reid’s books series in The Long Game, which looks set to be adapted in season two.
Season one also introduced Scott Hunter and Kip Grady (François Arnaud and Robbie GK) and their relationship in episode three, “Hunter,” which adapted the first of Reid’s books, Game Changer.

That book’s events were finished off in episode five, “I’ll Believe Anything.“ There, Scott, another ice hockey player, came out publicly as gay and got together with Kip.
“Hunter” also introduced Kyle (Matthew Finlan), a bartender at kip’s favourite gay bar, The Kingfisher.
Kyle is the main character in the fourth Game Changers book, Common Goal. There he meets Scott’s teammate, Eric Bennett, a character not yet depicted in the TV series.
The book sees Bennett and Kyle enjoy some fun before feelings develop and they have to make some decisions.

Addressing whether Kyle could return in his chat with Entertainment Weekly, Tierney said: “I’m not being coy about that. That’s the same Kyle [as Common Goal].”
He added: “I don’t know what his love life looks like. I don’t know what that journey’s gonna be or when, but that’s the same Kyle for sure.”
Heated Rivalry will be available in the UK on Sky and NOWTV from 10 January.
