A fundraiser for the wife and son of Renee Nicole Good – the 37-year-old woman who was shot and killed by an ICE agent – has raised over $1million in a matter of hours.
Good was shot in her car during an incident with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers on East 34th Street and Portland Avenue in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Wednesday (7 January).
Videos of the incident shared across social media appearing to show the mother-of-three and US citizen attempting to drive away as ICE officers tried to approach her. As she turned her vehicle, one agent shot at her a number of times.
The shooting has prompted international condemnation and widespread protests against ICE over issues while conducting anti-immigration raids across the US.

Good’s mother, Donna Ganger, told the Minnesota Star Tribune: “Renee was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known. She was extremely compassionate. She’s taken care of people all her life. She was loving, forgiving, and affectionate. She was an amazing human being.”
A Go Fund Me which appears dedicated to supporting Good’s wife and son “as they grapple with the devastating loss of their wife and mother” was created in the wake of the shooting.
The fundraiser’s creators, Mattie Weiss and Becka Tilsen, described Renee as “pure sunshine, pure love”, adding that she “will be desperately missed”.
In less than a day, the petition has received over $1.3million and continues to skyrocket at the time of reporting. Over 35,500 people have donated to the fundraiser, with donations reaching up to $50,000.
Donors sent messages of support to family and loved ones, with one writing: “You are not alone as you and your son navigate through this difficult time. Millions of people are supporting you all internationally. We see your pain and we are hurting with you. We will never forget Renee.”
Another wrote: “Renee, your legacy will prove to be louder than you could’ve ever known, this I am sure of.”
Responding to the overwhelming amount of report, Tilsen thanked those who donated, saying Renee’s family are “in awe of your generosity”.
“My family, me, Renee and Becca after they moved to town and became fast friends. We will be adding Becca, Renee’s partner, as a beneficiary as soon as possible. They will have direct access to all of these funds.”
In one of the videos capturing the incident, a woman who says she is Good’s wife can be seen sitting on the ground screaming alongside a pet dog.
A private Instagram post which belonged to Good show her alongside her wife. She described herself as a “poet and writer and wife and mom and s***** guitar strummer from Colorado; experiencing Minneapolis.”
