It appears that the Golden Globes are as obsessed with Heated Rivalry as the rest of the world.

Despite Hollywood’s Beverly Hilton hotel brimming with the type of blue-chip talent that could, say, win a Golden Globe – we’re talking Leonardo DiCaprio, Ariana Grande, Timothée Chalamet – it was newcomers Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams who stole the show at last night’s glitzy awards ceremony. And that’s before the pair had even got inside the venue.

The duo became overnight sensations back in November, for their roles in Canadian queer sports drama Heated Rivalry, in which they play physically pristine rival ice hockey players whose post-game workout stretch involves a lot of back arching. Storrie is Ilya, Williams is Shane, and together, they are the object of the entire internet’s lusty desires.

Both on the red carpet and on the stage at the 83rd Golden Globes, Storrie and Williams’ chemistry was so palpable that it’s almost awards-worthy. These are the five Heated Rivalry moments from last night’s event that sent the internet into a tizzy.

“Coming? We do that a lot.

Before the Golden Globes had even begun, Hudson Williams and Connor Storie were out on the red carpet inadvertently fueling the meme machine. In conversation with CBS Mornings anchor and occasional space traveller Gayle King, Williams made a joke about Shane and Ilya’s eruptive sex scenes.

King kicked off the chat by telling Williams that at the pre-Golden Globes party the evening before, all the attendees were awaiting his and Storrie’s arrival. “The buzz the whole night, I’m not exaggerating, is ‘They’re coming! They’re coming! They’re coming!'”

“Yeah, we do that a lot,” Williams quipped, though the risque joke appeared to go straight over King’s head.

A little while later, Storrie proved that Williams isn’t Heated Rivalry’s only funnyman. When King showed him a fanmade calendar featuring stills of Shane and Ilya in the show, Storrie joshed that maybe Williams was the one who made it.

“Imagine Hudson made this. He’s like, ‘No I’ve never seen this before!’ He’s at home, making an Etsy shop.”

Hudson needs to hold his baby

The duo’s red carpet takeover continued with Hudson Williams chatting to Overcompensating actress Mary Beth Malone.

Williams started the by chat sharing his “message to the gay community”, which was short, sweet, and a little saucy: “Love y’all. Unhhh… the sound is included in the message.”

Malone then asked whether Williams was missing Storrie, considering their red carpet conversations were taking place solo.

“Yes. I need to hold my baby,” Williams said, with Malone then asking whether Storrie is his “emotional support co-star”.

“Yes, he’s my emotional support person in life,” gushed Williams, making Heated Rivalry stans everywhere a little weepy-eyed.

They’re just happy to be there

Away from all the interviews, Storrie and Williams were in puppy mode: clearly just happy to be there.

Taking the stand on E! News’ glam cam, Williams opted for an unconventional pose, lifting his middle fingers and flipping off the camera. The channel had to blur out the gesture, but we all know what he was doing behind those pixels.

Storrie, too, was just there for a fun time. Posing in front of the press, a photographer asked him to show off his glittering silver broach. Happy to oblige, he turned to the right, winked at the camera, and bit his lip. Swoons all round.

Nikki Glaser’s shoutout

Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie hardly needed an indication that they’d made it, but Golden Globes compère Nikki Glaser gave them one anyway, shouting out Heated Rivalry during her hosting duties.

“This is exciting. We have got the stars of Heated Rivalry here. Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams,” she said, with the camera panning to the grinning pair.

“Listen, I don’t want to get too serious, but stories like these don’t always get told,” the comedian continued. “I hope that the success of Heated Rivalry is proof that American audiences are ready for more shows about hockey, OK?” Cue laughs aplenty.

“Picture everyone in the audience, you know…

Not only were the Heated Rivalry boys at their first Golden Globes period, they also presented at the ceremony for the first time, for the Best Supporting Female Actor in a Series category.

Walking out onto the stage to Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club”, Williams with his arm wrapped around Storrie’s back, the pair did a bit feigning nervousness and playing into their massive star ascension.

“Hi, sorry. It’s a little nerve wracking being here at our very first Golden Globes,” a petrified-looking Storrie told the crowd. “Just take a deep breath and picture everyone in the audience, you know…” responded Williams, hinting at the old-age nerve-beating technique of imagining the crowd naked.

“Yeah, I don’t really know if that works considering everyone’s seen us, you know…” Storrie retorted, referring to the frankly absurd amount of screen time their buns get during Heated Rivalry.

“A few things that are making me want to scream,” wrote one fan on X, formerly Twitter, after their stage appearance. “1) the way Hudson is holding Connor 2) how he breaks character a little and chuckles at him 3) Connor being so f***** baby 4) the insane energy between them and how well they work together.”

Clearly, Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie are here to stay.
