Heated Rivalry may have only been available in the UK for four days, but that hasn’t stopped people bingeing it and getting excited for season two.

The hit LGBTQ+ sports series based on Rachel Reid’s Game Changers novels follows the story of ice hockey rivals, Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) and Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams).

The show has debuted globally to widespread acclaim with many praising the show’s writing, the characters, and the series’ romance scenes.

Heated Rivalry‘s success has also sky rocketed its leading men to global fame with both Storrie and Williams doing the rounds when it comes to press.

Appearing on the US morning show, Today, on Wednesday (14 January) Storrie was asked about when the second season could be expected.

“I think Jacob [Tierney, the showrunner] is still writing it,” the 25-year-old actor said. “I think we’re going to be filming, I think, soon, I don’t know when exactly.”

Asked if filming would be likely to take place around the summer he replied: “Yeah, I think about then.”

Whilst far from being a concrete answer as to when production would get underway, it does offer hope to the legions of Heated Rivalry fans eager to find out when Ilya and Shane’s story will be continued on screen.

Creators confirmed Heated Rivalry season two in mid-December.

Previously, Tierney, who we recently learned parted ways with a “big streamer” before taking Heated Rivalry to the Canadian streamer, Crave, has said he doesn’t want to rush a second season.

Speaking to Variety in December, the showrunner gave a pragmatic answer when asked about season two’s timeline.

“It can’t be [the] same time next year, because this time last year I’d written five of these [episodes], and this time this year I’ve written zero of them,” Tierney said. “So it’s going to be a little bit later, but it’s still going to be soon.”

He added: “I don’t want to put out a rushed s***** second season just because the show is very popular.”

Even if Storrie is right about filming starting in the summer it would most likely wrap sometime towards the end of the year, if not the start of 2027. And then there would the post-production cycle.

So, realistically, the earliest we can expect more Heated Rivalry is spring/summer 2027.
