Green Party leader Zack Polanski has defiantly hit back at far-right commentator Katie Hopkins after she attempted to throw shade.
Hopkins, who was a constant on the third series of The Apprentice in 2007, has become known for using her X account – when it isn’t suspended – to take shots at LGBTQ+ people, refugees, Black and Muslim communities, among others.
The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant, who has been fired from multiple jobs over her controversial views, took to her preferred platform on Tuesday (27 January) to take a swipe at Green Party leader Polanski, after he was pictured at gay nightclub Heaven.
Hopkins posted a photo of her looking disgusted (of which there are many) while holding a glass. She captioned the image: “The U.K. has a Gay Jew Leading Muslims to vote Green.”
As reported by PoliticsHome, the Muslim Vote, a group focused on guiding Muslim electoral decisions, has decided to endorse the Greens over Labour and George Galloway’s Workers’ Party in the Greater Manchester constituency of Gorton and Denton.
Polanski, who is proudly gay, Jewish, and also a vegan, responded by reposting an image of him looking blissfully content, with a lit up “G-A-Y” sign above him.
The LGBTQ+ rights supporter also reposted Hopkins’ post, adding: “Whether it’s the UK, or the US, The Apprentice has a lot to answer for…”
His comment references the amount of controversial characters that have been platformed on The Apprentice, including Donald Trump, who was a host of the US version for its first 14 seasons.
Conservative activist Lottie Lion, who appeared on the show in 2019, claimed she couldn’t be transphobic because she was “rooting” for Caitlyn Jenner, who at the time was on I’m A Celebrity.
Amy Anzel, who was a contestant on the show in 2022, apologised after tweeting a homophobic slur while partying in Manchester, claiming she was “repeating what [her] friends were saying”.
Polanski recently trended on X after partying in London gay bar Heaven with his supporters on 25 January – a move that didn’t sit well with his opponents, because it was a Sunday. Yes, really.
