Chappell Roan has defended the controversial dress that she wore to the Grammys’ red carpet on 1 February.
The dress in question received both backlash and admiration for the way it showcased nipple rings.
Posting to Instagram on 2 February, the ‘Pink Pony Club’ singer said: “Giggling because I don’t even think this is THAT outrageous of an outfit. The look’s actually so awesome and weird. I recommend just exercising your free will, it’s really fun and silly.”
She also thanked the Grammys for having her and everyone who voted for her in the ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’ and ‘Record of the Year’ categories for her lesbian love ballad ‘The Subway’.

The post, which also showcased the outfit through a series of stunning photos, received support from other celebrities, including Jade Thirlwall, Dove Cameron, Courtney Act, Adore Delano and Munroe Bergdorf.
Many sapphic fans went wild for her Grammys look too, expressing their appreciation for the singer’s camp and daring fashion taste on Reddit.
