Chappell Roan says ‘I wanna talk about being gay’ as she refuses crowd demand

Chappell Roan has politely but firmly shut down an Australian touring tradition during her Laneway Festival set on the Gold Coast.
During her show on Friday (7 February), the ‘Pink Pony Club’ singer was urged by the crowd to do a “shoey” – an Aussie ritual that involves drinking alcohol from a shoe – before realising what was being asked of her.
“Drink a beer out of the shoe?” Roan asked, before making her stance crystal clear: “No. No, no, no, no.
“I want to talk about being gay.”

However, her pivot earned the singer an even louder response from the festival audience.
Roan has been getting a lot of attention over the past few weeks – and not just because of her daring outfit at this year’s Grammys.
She is also set to make her Fortnite debut, with fans able to get new skins for the game featuring some of her iconic looks.
But some people were left disappointed that their favourite looks didn’t get a skin.
“Ohhh I love it but at the same time I am disappointed that they don’t have a skin with the white makeup she wears,” one fan wrote.
Another dubbed the outfits “underwhelming” considering Roan is known for “so many iconic looks”.
