JoJo Siwa said she felt “lost” before joining Celebrity Big Brother and meeting Chris Hughes, as the Dance Moms star reflected on the show.
Siwa, Hughes, and 11 other celebrities entered the Celebrity Big Brother house on 7 April last year. Jack P Shepherd won the series on 25 April. Among the other contestants were RuPaul’s Drag Race UK‘s Danny Beard, Chesney Hawkes, and Mickey Rourke.
On Sunday (8 February) the “Karma” singer shared a series of screenshots from her time on CBB and reflected about what was going on in her life before the show.
“Ten months ago I entered the house that changed my life for forever,” she wrote in the caption. “Three weeks with some of the best strangers I’ve ever met, three weeks of letting loose having fun, and three weeks of not even realising it, but finding myself and comfort and pride within myself,” she said.

Continuing, Siwa said: “Right around a year ago, I knew I was lost in who I was, but I wasn’t sure how to fix it and find who I was.” She then said: “I had no idea that [entering the Big Brother house] would be how I truly find myself.”
While on CBB Siwa announced she was “switching letters” after realising that she’s “queer” rather than a “lesbian”. Siwa first came out in 2021 identifying as pansexual. Since the show, the former Dance Moms star has had to clarify her sexuality and opened up about feeling “boxed” in.
Siwa then said her time in the house simultaneously feels “like seven years ago”, but also like it was “just last week”. She added: “I would give anything to re-experience it. But I wouldn’t want anything to be different. I would want the exact same experience.”
Bringing her message to a close she alluded to Hughes. “If you would’ve told me that I was gonna walk out of that house having met someone that I love more than life itself, I would’ve been fascinated to see what you were talking about.” She described the pair’s love as “greater than one can imagine”, calling it “a bond stronger than I knew was possible”.
Last year’s CBB was notable for many reasons (not all of them good) but among them was the budding relationship between Siwa and Hughes. The pair frequently cuddled and shared intimate moments together.
After exiting the house Siwa broke up with her partner, Kath Ebbs, before continuing to spend time with Hughes. The pair officially confirmed their relationship in June. They’ve since spoken publicly about wanting children and marriage.
Siwa is joining the cast of the next series of The Great British Bake Off: Stand Up To Cancer.
