Sarah McBride responds to actor James Woods’ attempt at trolling

Congresswoman Sarah McBride publicly responded to right-wing actor James Woods attempting to troll her via his X account.

Posting on 16 February, the Hercules and Videodrome star shared an image of McBride speaking at a podium with text reading: “The Save Act will harm women voters, like myself”, attributing the quote to the politician. He shared the post with the caption: “Um…”

On 16 February, McBride quoted the post, commenting: “Something that’s been weird about being in elected office is having people you grew up watching in movies troll you online.”

“Actually, just rewatched Contact yesterday. Good movie,” she continued, referencing the 1997 science fiction film that also starred Jodie Foster and Matthew McConaughey.

In her comment, McBride also confirmed that the quote was “fabricated”.

X users were quick to back McBride up following the exchange.

“Isn’t he a villain in that movie?” commented one user, with the side-eye emoji.

“Just rewatch the scene in Hercules where he gets dragged into Hades,” another said with the crying laughing emoji. “Seriously though, you’re doing a great job, don’t let these weirdos get you down!”
