Joe Lycett is making a video game now, and it looks terrifying

Watch out Nintendo, Joe Lycett is diving head first into the world of video game development, and it’s going about as well as you would expect.
The 37-year-old British comedian published the first part of what we’re sure is going to be an informative series on his journey through the world of games development on Wednesday (25 February).
“I’ve never made a video game or anything like it, so it’s going to take a while,” he said in a clip posted on Instagram.
He of course started where any aspiring games aficionado would; creating a 3D model of the late singer and host Cilla Black.
Using the digital sculpting app Nomad, Lycett began carving a 3D sphere into a depiction of the Surprise! Surprise! star based on a reference of her from 2008, refusing to use any mirror duplication tools as any great artist would.
What resulted was an asymmetrical rendition of Cilla Black’s head that would look right at home in a Silent Hill sequel.
He then attached his terrifying labour of love to the 3D model of a parking meter, which he created using 3D scanning technology similar to that used in software like Google Maps.
Lycett did this, he says, to make the body of his creation to look “a little bit like C-3PO.” We’ll let you decide whether he achieved that goal.
He tried to scan a sausage for the limbs, but because it “wobbles”, he said “it didn’t come out sausage shaped”.
Far be it for Lycett to experiment through his own failures, he used the texture of the scrapped model to create a set of Peperami-esque arms and legs.

“That’s your player,” he said while gleefully presenting his horrific creation. “Next thing to do is to create the first boss.”
Unfortunately, the pansexual comedian left the video there, telling viewers to join him for future updates outlining his development.
While we’re certainly excited to see what comes next, Lycett unfortunately failed to explain what the game is actually going to be. The PinkNews team hopes it will be an open-world role-playing game inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
