Lil Nas X sends heart-wrenching message to fans amid ongoing legal struggle

Grammy-winning musician Lil Nas X, whose legal name is Montero Hill, appears in court for a preliminary hearing on four felony charges at Los Angeles Superior Court.

Lil Nas X has sent an emotional message to fans as his lawyer applied for diversion in his ongoing battery court case.

On Thursday (12 March), the “Old Town Road” singer, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, appeared in court, where his lawyer asked a judge for a short delay to transfer his felony police battery case into an unspecified diversion program.

The “Montero” hitmaker’s lawyer said she was waiting on an “expert report” to support the request, which, if granted, would mean charges are dismissed if the rapper completes treatment or rehabilitation.

Following his court appearance, Lil Nas X, who will next appear in court on 6 April, made a brief statement to reporters.

“All I wanted to say is to my fans, I really love, and I miss you, and I appreciate your support so much, and I can’t wait to be back hugging you guys,” he said before blowing a kiss. “You guys, have a good day.”

He stopped in his tracks upon hearing a busker called Jensen Pawley, who played Radiohead’s “Lucky”. According to Rolling Stone, the rapper gave him $100 as he left.

In August last year, the rapper was arrested after the Los Angeles Police Department was called to Ventura Boulevard at 05:30 in the morning. LAPD responded to reports of a man walking down the street in his underwear.

Lil Nas X is now facing three felony counts of battery with injury to a police officer and one felony count of resisting arrest. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.

The two-time Grammy award winner addressed his arrest after being released from prison and posting bail at $75,000, telling fans via an Instagram video: “Ya girl is gonna be OK, y’all. She’s gon’ be alright, she’s gon’ be alright. S***.”

He added: “That was f****** terrifying, that was terrifying. That was a terrifying last four days, but your girl is gonna be alright.”

Lil Nas X was admitted to hospital in April last year after “losing control” of the right side of his face
