Heated Rivalry season 2 casting call includes details of eight new characters

Hudson Williams as Shane Hollander and Connor Storrie as Ilya Rozanov

The next season of Heated Rivalry is set to be, well, heated after an apparent casting call found its way online.

Season two of Heated Rivalry was previously confirmed, with details suggesting it will follow the story of Ilya (Connor Storrie) and Shane (Hudson Williams).

The show, which debuted on Canadian channel Crave late last year, is based on the Game Changers novel series by Rachel Reid – a series of gay hockey novels featuring a loveable (and hatable!) cast of characters.

The debut season was based on the second book, Heated Rivalry, but included the characters from Game Changer, Scott (Francois Arnaud) and Kip (Robbie GK).

Recently, an alleged casting call went out for new characters to join the second season, with details of what fans can expect – and it’s safe to say that fans of the books are thrilled.

The third book in the series, Tough Guy, follows awkward hockey player Ryan Price and his love interest, musician Fabian Salah. While Ryan’s trademark red hair might not make it to the show (the casting call says “possibly redheaded”), Fabian’s androgyny will be present. Both roles “will have implied sex, nudity and kissing”.

Continuing with the sizzling scenes from season one, many of the new roles will also “be bare-chested, bare buttocks” however it’s clarified there will be “no full frontal nudity”.

Season two is also set to introduce Eric Bennett, focus of book four, Common Goal. He’s set to be “early 40s”, while the character is newly divorced and out as bi, nervous about entering the queer dating scene.

However his love interest Kyle appears to have been introduced already, played by Matthew Finlan.

The casting call also includes “very funny” Harris Drover, from book five, Role Model. Interestingly, there was reportedly not a call for his love interest, hockey player Troy Barrett, though rumours suggest Adults star Jack Innanen has already bagged that role.

Other roles include that of Dallas Kent, one of the homophobic villains of the book series, Wyatt Hayes, who is Ryan’s friend on the team, Luca Haas who plays with Ilya, and Ilya’s therapy Dr Galina Molchalina.

Fans are already getting excited, with one writing: “I’m so happy we’re getting Ryan, Fabian and Eric! All of the GC men. I know whoever they cast for all these roles will be perfect, in Jacob we trust.”

Another said: “I think I’m most excited for Fabian and Ryan.”
