Popular Thai actress Kanyarat Ruangrung, nicknamed ‘Piploy’, came out as queer in a recent statement posted to her Instagram story.

The 25-year-old actress, known for roles in Hide & Sis, Soda in The Shipper, and Wednesday Club, was answering a fan who asked: “Are you straight, if you don’t mind me asking?” when she revealed her sexuality on 18 March.

Writing back underneath a photo of a sunset, Ruangrung said: “No worries, you can ask. I’d say I’m queer, I don’t really like putting labels on love, I just go with what feels right.”

She then posted a photo updating viewers that she was turning in for the night and going to sleep.

The following day, Ruangrung posted on her X account, writing “At first I felt relieved, but now I’m not so sure,” seemingly in reaction to fan response.

During her career, Piploy has appeared in a number of sapphic shows. She appeared in The Trainee in 2024 and Whale Store xoxo in 2025.

In Whale Store xoxo, a grieving shopkeeper, mourning the loss of her dad, becomes romantically involved with a customer. The two women form a romantic relationship.

Piploy plays the supporting character of Noey in the series, with the character appearing to have a crush on the female lead Wan.
