Trump targets LGBT+ ally James Talarico in strange ‘six genders’ rant

Donald Trump has targeted vocal LGBTQ+ ally James Talarico, claiming he has “six genders”, is a “fraud” and a “vegan”.
Talarico won the Democratic primary in Texas to run for the US Senate earlier this year. And it’s not the first time Trump has set his sights on him, after branding him an “insult to Jesus” over his support for the trans community. Talarico, who is a Christian, also said: “God is both masculine, feminine, and everything in between … God is non-binary.”
On Sunday, Trump launched another attack on his own social media platform Truth Social, starting: “The Democrat running in Texas, James Talarico, turns out to be a FRAUD!”
He continued: “He’s got six genders, insults to Jesus, only vegan food, was wearing a mask in 2023 and 2024, and is a weak, ineffective guy who we ‘allowed’ to win prior to releasing the avalanche we had on him because, as bad as [Jasmine] Crockett was as a candidate, this guy is worse!”
Is James Talarico vegan?
Talarico’s vegan accusation (which, yeah, we don’t get why it would be some sort of ‘gotcha!’ either?) appears to have come after a 2022 speech to animal rights group the Texas Humane Legislation Network. In it, he said reducing meat consumption was “the right thing to do” for animal welfare and climate change. He explained that his campaign was “only buying vegan products from our local vegan businesses”, as per The New Republic.
He has denied “all accusations of veganism”.

Meanwhile, the “six genders” comment appears to be from a 2021 discussion in which Talarico asked how a trans sports ban would affect intersex people.
He said at the time: “There are many more than two biological sexes – in fact, there are six.” He claimed there are six variations of the sex chromosomes, however, as per Axys, there are more.
In Trump’s latest rant, he claimed that Talarico is “the worst candidate I have ever seen” other than Gavin Newsom. He added: “I believe that any human being running against him, sick, incompetent, close to death or even a child would win.”
