Former Conservative MP Crispin Blunt has been fined £1,200 after pleading guilty to multiple drug possession charges stemming from a police raid on his Surrey home on October 25, 2023.
Appearing at court, Blunt admitted to possessing crystal meth, cannabis, and GBL, with the case linked to an investigation following a chemsex party held at his property in September 2023.
He was also ordered to pay a £480 victim surcharge and £200 in costs.
During proceedings, Blunt argued that his involvement in chemsex spaces was tied to his long-standing interest in drug policy, which began during his time in government.
He told the court his “first-hand experience” informed his views that drug laws should be reformed, while also claiming the case arose after he was targeted in a blackmail and extortion attempt.
A separate rape allegation connected to the case was investigated for 18 months but resulted in no charges.
During sentencing, the judge said Blunt’s actions risked undermining public confidence, particularly given his former role overseeing justice policy.
Blunt was first arrested in October 2023, later losing the Tory whip and stepping down at the 2024 general election.
