The rumours about British singer Boy George taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 have finally been addressed.
There have been swirling rumours that the 64-year-old “Karma Chameleon” hitmaker will be performing at Eurovision, but not representing the UK.
San Marino’s entry, Senhit, will be performing the track “Superstar”, a collaboration between Senhit and Boy George.
Senhit is a Eurovision alum, having represented San Marino at Düsseldorf in 2011 and performed Adrenalina alongside Flo Rida at the Grand Final of Rotterdam in 2021.
At the San Marino final, which Senhit won, Boy George was not present but appeared as a projected image during the performance, AussieVision reported.
In an interview with Eurovisionfun, Senhit confirmed that Boy George will join her on stage. However, Boy George is not currently listed as a performing artist on the official Eurovision website.
When asked if we’ll see him onstage, Senhit responded: “Absolutely. Absolutely. Yes. Absolutely.
“This is something that was discussed with Boy George. He’s in America touring right now. I will go to him next week to start to talk about staging and all the things.
‘It’s like a coincidence, like destiny’
“And he knew that the possibility to go to Vienna. He said absolutely I will be involved with you, and I will be on stage with you. So yeah, you will see him for sure.”
Teasing the performance, Senhit said: “We can dance, we can scream, we can sing, we can bring our superstar vibe onstage. I think you will enjoy!”
Senhit also commented that Boy George was surprised when they started discussing Eurovision.
“He [got a] shock when I was talking about Eurovision,” she said.
“Because he’s from England and he knows Eurovision, [but I guess] he didn’t expect the victory because he said ‘I don’t know, let’s try’, but I don’t know it’s like a coincidence, like destiny, I don’t know how it happened.”
This year marks the contest’s 70th anniversary; however, Eurovision is facing mounting backlash. Several countries have withdrawn from this year’s contest because Israel’s participation was allowed, despite the war in Gaza.
Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain will be boycotting. It’s the largest number of boycotting countries in the contest’s history since 1970.
The Grand Final and the Semi-Finals will be broadcast live on BBC One and iPlayer, and on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.
Eurovision 2026 will take place in Vienna, Austria, from May 12 to 16. It is scheduled to consist of two semi-finals on 12 and 14 May and a final on 16 May 2026.
