Scott Mills has been fired from the BBC – and while it causes a headache for Radio 2 bosses, it could cause a problem for EastEnders too.
The presenter, who is married to radio producer Sam Vaughan, was part of the BBC soap’s flash-forward episode on New Year’s Day. The episode was set a year into the future and featured Mills giving a message on his breakfast radio show, which he took over from Zoe Ball.
In the scene, Mills can be heard wishing character Max Branning a happy wedding day from his son Oscar, who recently kicked off a bisexual love triangle.
Of course, with Mills having been sacked, he won’t be delivering any messages on Radio 2 on New Year’s Day in 2027.
EastEnders fans have been reacting to the news on X, with one saying: “That’s that ruined.”
Another wrote: “Scott Mills has given the EastEnders writers the worse scenario.”
A third said: “I just know the person who is responsible for putting Scott Mills in the EastEnders flash-forward episode is going through it right now.”
Despite that, it appears there is a plan in place.
A source told The Sun: “It won’t have a huge impact on the episode – even if he was set to reprise his role again. Bosses were clear that on New Year’s Day 2027 you’ll see everything that happened in the episode from a different perspective so it wouldn’t be a big loss for him not to feature again.”
Meanwhile, Metro reports that the scene will not be used again in the actual episode when it airs over the new year.
Why was Scott Mills fired from the BBC?

According to The Mirror, a complaint about Mills’ personal conduct was made last week. It related to a historic relationship, dating back more than 10 years.
It’s reported that he was informed his contract was terminated over the weekend.
