The head of Pride in London has been dismissed following an investigation into allegations including financial misconduct and bullying.
Christopher Joell-Deshields, who had served as chief executive since 2021, was suspended last year and later sacked after an independent inquiry. An appeal against the decision was unsuccessful.
According to BBC News, he was paid his annual salary of £87,500 while he was suspended.

In a statement, the organisation confirmed he is “no longer employed by or affiliated with” Pride in London. The full findings of the investigation have not been made public.
Among the allegations were claims that vouchers intended for volunteers’ food and drink were used to purchase luxury items, including tech products and designer fragrances. The spending, flagged by a sponsor’s internal systems, was said to raise concerns about potential personal use.
Interim CEO Rebecca Paisis said: “Pride in London exists to champion the LGBTQ+ community of London. We stand for unity, visibility, and equality for all. That purpose is at the heart of everything we do and guides every decision we make.
“I would like to thank our community and all our stakeholders for their support in recent months, especially our volunteers who make Pride in London possible.
“As we enter the delivery phase for Pride in London 2026, I am focused on delivering another safe and successful event and leading the organisation with integrity.”
Other legal issues
Joell-Deshields has also been involved in an ongoing legal dispute with the organisation over the return of company property.
A High Court order required him to relinquish control of Pride assets, with further proceedings launched over alleged non-compliance.
He has disputed aspects of the reporting around the case, saying he would not comment without reviewing the organisation’s statement.
