A 27-year-old drag queen who was set to appear on Drag Race: Philippines season four has tragically passed away.
Jason Elvie Ty, best known by their stage name Misua, died Thursday (2 April) in the Philippines. A cause of death was not announced.
Misua was cast as one of the drag queens of Drag Race: Philippines season four, which was set to start filming. She was also a beloved queen among the Filipino drag community and a member of Haus of LaFeya.
The queens of the forthcoming season hadn’t yet been announced. Filming has been temporarily halted in light of Misua’s death.
In a statement, Drag Race production company World of Wonder stated: “We are heartbroken to share that Misua, a talented Queen set to appear on season four of Drag Race Philippines passed away in her sleep the morning of April 2.
“She brought light, artistry, and joy to those around her, and she will be deeply missed.
“We have paused production to care for and support our cast and crew during this incredibly difficult time.
“Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who loved her. We are in contact with her family who have asked for privacy during this hard time.”

Furthermore, many members of the Drag Race family shared their condolences.
Hannah Conda, RuPaul’s Drag Race season two runner-up, shared: “Absolutely heartbreaking! My thoughts are with my Filo family. I love you all and sending my love! She was an absolute star!”
Blu Hydrangea, one of the original Drag Race UK stars, also wrote: “Devastating! Sending all my love to everyone involved.”
Additionally, Variety published Misua’s Drag Race bio, where the queen described herself as “a talented and deeply creative queen from Cagayan de Oro, whose drag was rooted in fashion, artistry, and self-expression.
“A graphic designer by profession and a performer for eight years, she is known for creating nearly every aspect of her drag herself — from her outfits, hair, and nails to props and visual content — reflecting her extraordinary creativity and eye for detail.”
She added that she’s a proud member of Haus of LaFeya. “Misua finds strength in community and in being surrounded by like-minded artists who share her passion for growth, ambition, and creativity.
“Her drag name, inspired by her grandfather’s comfort food, speaks to the personal and heartfelt nature of her artistry.”
Her application also states she’s known for her “striking visuals, fashion-forward perspective, and magnetic presence.
“Misua brings light, joy, and ambition to everyone around her. She sees herself as both a creative force and a star, with a dream of inspiring others to work hard for what they want and to hold on to their dreams.”
