Donald Trump drops bizarre supercut of him dancing to Village People’s YMCA – a song that’s definitely, definitely not about gay sex

This haunting mega-mix of Donald Trump dancing to the definitely-not gay anthem “YMCA” should remind you to vote for Joe Biden (Twitter)
If you wanted your dreams to be haunted for the rest of your life, don’t worry – Donald Trump has got you covered.
No, we’re not talking about his disastrous presidency, which is hopefully coming to an imminent end – although that would be enough to induce nightmares. We’re talking about a haunting, disturbing, bizarre mega-mix video of him dancing to Village People‘s “YMCA”, which is, as we all know, not about gay sex at all.
Trump shared the video on 3 November, election day, with the caption: “VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!”
It is unclear exactly what Trump is trying to achieve with the video – is he trying to scare people into voting for his Democratic rival Joe Biden? Or does he genuinely think that people want to wake up to a video of him awkwardly dancing to “YMCA”?
We wish we had the answers, but alas, dear reader, we do not.
Twitter reacts in horror as Donald Trump shares a terrifying mega-mix of himself dancing to ‘YMCA’.
Twitter reacted in almost universal horror at the cursed video, with many zoning in on Trump’s hand movements.
This video has more clips of a “jerking someone off” hand motion than the season 1 finale of Silicon Valley. pic.twitter.com/w5LP9HCCpf

Sorry, but I can’t help thinking of him giving double hand jobs when he “dances” like this to YMCA…??♀️ pic.twitter.com/CjldCJe4bM— Mafalda “864511320”?? (@Bluemafaldita) November 3, 2020
I thought this was a parody account but no, Trump has actually released a two minute video of him dancing to YMCA and pointing like Victoria Beckham! https://t.co/xdd12JtPO3— West End Wilma (@westendwilma) November 3, 2020
But others took the time to remind people to vote for Biden, with many pointing out that voting Trump back into office would be a vote in favour of oppression and discrimination.
A vote for Trump is a vote for:
– chaos & division
– dishonesty & lies
– corruption & criminality
– greed & selfishness
– discrimination & oppressionNo thanks.#VoteBiden— MURRAY??? (@murray_nyc) November 3, 2020
On top of being racist, sexist, and homophobic, Trump can’t even do the YMCA. Vote him out! #ElectionDay https://t.co/XcVtvzWz0G

Don't use The Village People's song, you homo- and transphobic orange ball. https://t.co/qpzqIusXUW— Shirodj Raghoenath (@Shirodj93) November 3, 2020
Trump has regularly used both “YMCA” and the Village People’s other gay anthem, “Macho Man”, at campaign events – and he has steadfastly ignored pleas from the band to leave their songs alone.
Victor Willis, the only original member of the group, begged Trump in June to stop using their songs at rallies.
“I ask that you no longer use any of my music at your rallies especially ‘YMCA’ and ‘Macho Man’,” Willis wrote on his personal Facebook page at the time.
“Sorry, but I can no longer look the other way.”
Oh, just in case you were wondering, the Village People’s ‘YMCA’ is not about ‘illicit gay sex’.
While “YMCA” instructs a “young man” to stay at the YMCA where he will find “many ways to have a good time”, the song is absolutely not about gay sex.
No, it’s really not – at least, that’s according to Willis, who threatened in September to sue anyone who said it is about queer love.
“‘YMCA’ is one of the most iconic songs in the world. I will not stand idle and allow it to be defamed. Therefore, I will sue the next media organisation, or anyone else, that falsely suggests ‘YMCA’ is somehow about illicit gay sex,” he wrote on Facebook at the time.
“Get your minds out of the gutter please! It is not about that!”
