Congresswoman Nancy Mace appeared to assume a shopper’s sexuality and labelled the left “absolutely f***ing crazy”, in a video.

The video, which the South Carolina representative shared on her X/Twitter account on Sunday (20 April), showed a voter asking whether the Republican would be holding any town hall meetings this year.

However, the conversation quickly escalated as Mace accused the man, who was initially calm, of “harassing” her. She went on to assume he was gay, citing her voting history on same-sex marriage.

“I asked if you’re doing any more [town halls] this year, it was one simple question,” the shopper said.

Mace replied: “I’ve done one, I’ll do plenty more. You’re always invited, and by the way, I voted for gay marriage twice.”

The man then asked: “What does that have to do with me?” prompting her to say, “It has everything to do with you,” before shouting, “You people on the left are absolutely f***ing crazy.”

The outburst escalated until the shopper walked away. In her social media post, Mace later called him an “unhinged lunatic”, adding: “Dems are nuts so I went off and I won’t be backing down… try me.”

Last month, Mace shared a transgender influencer’s tweet with an anti-trans message, resulting in the X user having to move home because of the hate she received online.

Mace’s behaviour also recently prompted a call for an inquiry after she referred to the trans community using a slur during a Committee on Oversight and Government Reform meeting.
