Diego Calva has dished on nude scenes with Euphoria actor and on-screen boyfriend Jacob Elordi for On Swift Horses, calling them ‘intimidating’.

Based on the book by Shannon Pufahl, On Swift Horses is set to follow married couple Muriel (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and Lee (Warfare‘s Will Poulter) – with Muriel pining for Lee’s younger brother, Julius (Jacob Elordi).

And to throw another spanner in the works, despite Julius and Muriel’s contact, Julius has a passionate affair with Henry (Diego Calva), whom he meets at a Las Vegas casino.

As teased by the first trailer for On Swift Horses, the film is set to include some pretty steamy (and naked) sex scenes of all combinations of characters – including with Elordi and Calva.

“Believe me, being naked around Jacob Elordi is intimidating!” the star told attitude magazine as part of his cover shoot. “He’s like a fucking god! He’s too perfect! … It’s hard not to do a hot scene with Jacob shirtless!”

He also told the publication that the sex scenes are “about actual love”, as described by director Dan Minahan.

“He told us: ‘I don’t want to provoke the audience. This is about actual love. I don’t want a classic story of tragedy around these queer characters and then they have kinky sex — no, no, no.

“‘They’re two sweet guys who really fall in love.’ Henry is wilder and more dangerous in the streets. But with Julius, he’s very tender,” he said.

Describing the plot of the film further, Calva said, somewhat confusingly, “It’s like when you fall in love with your first love when you’re eight. You fall in love with your cousin or your teacher. Something really sweet, platonic, in a way.”

The Narcos star explained, “When they’re inside the hotel room, in their world, because they have to hide from the actual world — they’re kids.”

On Swift Horses is among the most anticipated queer films set to be released in 2025, along with Olivia Colman‘s queer drama Jimpa and Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor’s World War I gay romance The History of Sound.

Jacob Elordi will also be seen in the upcoming Wuthering Heights adaptation from Saltburn director Emerald Fennell – though his casting as Heathcliff sparked backlash.

On Swift Horses is out in cinemas in the US on 25 April and is yet to receive a release date in the UK and Australia.
