Someone on Lady Gaga’s team best call Andrew Lloyd Webber immediately, as the music legend is now just a Tony Award away from becoming an EGOT winner.
A star with EGOT status is one who has received an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award, and the number of entertainers in the exclusive club is pretty small.
Yet “Abracadabra” singer Lady Gaga could soon join the ranks alongside Hollywood legends including Audrey Hepburn, Elton John, and Viola Davis, as she has just added her first Emmy Award to her trophy cabinet.
Of course, the pop superstar already had a Grammy – 14 of them in fact – with her most recent being added to the collection in February for her Bruno Mars collaboration, “Die With A Smile”.
The occasional actress is also a four-time Oscar nominee, including a nod in the Best Actress category for her role in 2018’s A Star Is Born. Yet it was the film’s breakout smash song “Shallow” which saw her win her first Academy Award in the Best Original Song category.

At last night’s Sports Emmy Awards (20 May) in New York, she secured her first Emmy in the Outstanding Music Direction category for her Super Bowl LIX Pregame Show Hold My Hand, which took place ahead of this year’s main Super Bowl on 9 February.
Mother Monster has previously been nominated for four Emmy Awards, twice in the Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special category, and once in both the Outstanding Special Class Program and the Outstanding Variety Special groups.
Gaga is now currently an EGO, needing only to add the T to her collection to join the elite group of entertainers.
Other stars just one award away from full EGOT status include Pose star Billy Porter and Wicked actress Cynthia Erivo.
The youngest ever EGOT winner is Frozen songwriter Robert Lopez, who managed the feat in 2014 aged just 39 – the age Lady Gaga turned in March.
The “Disease” hitmaker has previously expressed a strong desire to star on Broadway, so future EGOT status seems like a big possibility for the star.
For now though, she’s focussed on music. Gaga released her seventh studio album Mayhem in early March, and will be taking the record on tour across the globe later this year.
Earlier this month, she made history with her free concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, securing the biggest ever concert audience – 2.5 million – for a female artist.
