Euphoria star Hunter Schafer could be gracing the big screen as the princess of Hyrule following reports that she’s being eyed to star in the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie.

A rumour shared by industry insider Daniel Richtman in a paywalled X/Twitter post alleges that the 26-year-old trans actress is being considered to play Princess Zelda in the upcoming film.

Schafer has been a top pick to play the royal heir to the Hyrulean throne since the live-action adaptation was first announced in 2023 thanks to her resemblance to the character.

Reportedly directed by The Maze Runner‘s Wes Ball and co-produced by Nintendo’s very own Shigeru Miyamoto the live-action adaptation of the hugely successful fantasy video game series could be set for release in 2027.

Asked in 2024 whether she would be interested in playing the role, Schafer told Entertainment Tonight that the idea would be “so cool,” adding that she was a huge fan of the series growing up.

“I’ve seen another wave of the fan cast and everything, which is just really sweet,” she said at the time. “I’m honoured that they even think of me for that.”

Neither Sony Pictures, nor Nintendo, have confirmed or denied the reports.

No official cast updates have been shared by either studio, with information about the project remaining slim outside of rumours and speculation.
