“Price Tag” hitmaker Jessie J has been diagnosed with “early” breast cancer, the singer revealed in a video on her Instagram page.

The British, BRIT Award-winning musician explained in the video that she had been “in and out of tests” and would be undergoing surgery after performing at Capital’s Summertime Ball on Sunday 15 June.

Cancer sucks in any form but I’m holding onto the word ‘early’,” she said.

“I just wanted to be open and share it. One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard.

“I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I’m an open book.

“It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse – that’s the bit that kills me,” she continued.

She went on to make a joke about getting surgery, explaining that she would be “getting to keep [her] nipples” and the procedure was “a very dramatic way to get a boob job”.

In the caption for the Instagram video, she shared another quip, asking whether it was “too soon” to create a remix of her recent single “Living My Best Life” entitled “Living My Breast Life”.

“All jokes aside (You know it’s one of the ways I get through hard times) This last 2 months have been so amazing, and having this go on along side it on the sidelines has given me the most incredible perspective,” she wrote.

“I will come back with massive tits and more music,” she promised.

A slew of famous faces have since shared supportive messages with the star, with RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage commenting: “Sending you so much love and healing energy.”

“Sending all the love J,” wrote fellow musician Leona Lewis.

Rapper Wretch 32 added: “Continued strength & guidance. Your loved & your cared for. You fight my gangster.”

Jessie J, 37, born Jessica Cornish, gave birth to a son in January 2023, with her partner, professional basketballer Chanan Colman. She and Colman have been in a relationship with since 2021.

The singer recently performed an unreleased song at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles on 6 May in which she apologised to an ex-girlfriend for previously calling her bisexuality a “phase”.
