Rebel Wilson, who is married to Ramona Agruma, has opened up about how she was almost “permanently disfigured” after a “freak accident” on set.

The married Pitch Perfect actor, who at the end of last year shared images of her and her wife’s second wedding ceremony in Sydney, Australia, spoke to Access Hollywood about “freaking out” after an accident on set of her latest film, Bride Hard.

“In a fight scene, a gun accidentally got whacked across my face,” Wilson said of the accident that happened during “the last fight sequence”.

“It was just a freak accident, and my nose got split open, so I left set. It was really my last night of shooting. I was like, ‘How unlucky can I be?’”

The Bridesmaids star added that the injury left a “pool of blood”. “I was freaking out,” she said, adding: “They take an ambulance and they have to call a plastic surgeon, because if they didn’t, I would have been permanently disfigured. So we got the plastic surgeon, they did all the stitches, and you can’t tell now, really, you can’t tell.”

In action-comedy Bride Hard, directed by Simon West, Wilson stars as Sam, a secret agent, who serves as maid of honour at her childhood best friend’s wedding, which is taken hostage by mercenaries.

Wilson acts alongside Anna Camp, Anna Chlumsky, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Gigi Zumbado, Sherry Cola and Stephen Dorff.

The film has so far received negative reviews, with The Wrap’s William Bibbiani summarising it as an “incompetent action-comedy where humour goes to die,” while FandomWire’s Manuel São Bento wrote, Bride Hard is a waste of time and talent. With a disastrous script, uninspired performances (save for rare exceptions), and direction devoid of energy, the movie fails in nearly every fundamental area”.
