RuPaul’s Drag Race UK legend Bimini has teased a remix of Kate Nash’s instantly iconic anti-TERF song “GERM”.
In May, BRIT Award-winner Kate Nash released a scathing attack on so-called “gender-critical” feminists in a spoken-word single titled “GERM”, in which she described trans-exclusionary radical feminists (TERFs) as “exclusionary, regressive, misogynist”.
The song, which took on issues including domestic abuse, hate crimes towards trans people, and male mental health, quickly went viral, attracting criticism from TERFs and online trolls – criticism which Nash has coolly taken in her stride.
Now, the single is set to receive a club makeover from drag icon Bimini. In an Instagram story, the musician and drag queen shared a short clip of a remixed version of Nash’s fiercely pro-trans single, along with the caption: “Is GERM the most important song released this year so far?”

Nash responded by reposting Bimini’s story, adding several exclamation marks.
Nash told PinkNews in an interview that she can “f**king handle” the right-wing backlash against her single GERM, explaining: “I’m getting letters from trans people that are so moving and so powerful about how they felt hearing the song and how grateful they were, and that is a hundred times more powerful than any insult you could throw at me.”
She added that she wrote the spoken-word song because she wanted it “on record” that a “feminist, cis woman was pro-trans and a trans ally and calling out transphobia,’ and saying that this isn’t feminism.”
“I just think we need to start calling a spade a spade because dismantling systems of oppression lies at the core of feminism and trampling on the rights of other people in order to put ourselves first is not feminism,” she added.
GERM has been widely praised by the LGBTQ+ community, with one social media user commenting that Nash is “more punk than most punk stars these days”.
Another said: “It’s always a relief when someone you liked as a kid turns out to remain cool.”
