Russell T Davies, the man behind Queer as Folk and It’s a Sin, has issued an update about his next LGBTQ+ project, Tip Toe.
Channel 4 announced earlier this year that the series would “explore the most corrosive forces facing the LGBTQ+ community today”.
The TV writer, who currently serves as showrunner on Doctor Who, posted on Instagram on Monday (23 June) that he has finished the scripts for the new drama.
Actor Dino Fetscher, who starred in Davies’ dystopian drama Years and Years, responded to the news by sharing three heart emojis, while journalist and author Matt Cain said: “Can’t. F***ing. Wait.”

Tip Toe will focus on Leo, who runs a bar on Manchester’s gay hub Canal Street, and neighbour Clive, an electrician with two teenage sons.
“Just as life should be settling down, the world around them is growing more tense,” a synopsis for the show reveals.
“Words become weapons, opinions become radicalised, and, gradually, neighbours become deadly enemies, in a tense, suburban thriller which challenges everything we consider to be safe.”
Davies returns to the familiar setting of Manchester for the series. Queer as Folk, Banana and Cucumber were all set in the city.
Speaking in February, he said: “It’s my honour to combine my old home, Channel 4, with my second home, Canal Street. This is a show I had to write because the world is getting stranger, tougher and darker, and the fight is on”.
Executive producer Nicola Shindler added: “Tip Toe is not just a timely drama but a captivating story, shot through with Russell’s brilliant wit, warmth and devastating poignancy.”
Davies’ other project, Doctor Who spin-off The War Between the Land and Sea, is expected to air later this year.
