We knew Jonathan Bailey was talented, but he still has the ability to surprise us.
The Jurassic World: Rebirth star can act and has also shown on stage and on screen that he can sing. But now we’ve found out he can play the clarinet too.
In an interview with the US show Today, the Wicked star discussed becoming a part of the orchestra for the latest dinosaurs-run-amok movie.
“It was the highlight of my career, it was incredibly special,” Bailey said. “I’m obsessed with musical scores.
“Alexandre Desplat, who’s scoring this, is extraordinary. It’s a true horror score. But I went to Abbey Road to watch the 105-piece orchestra, and by the end of the week I ended up playing a solo which is the theme in this film.”

He recalled seeing the first Jurassic Park film when he was five years old and being given a plastic clarinet around the same time. In the interview, he marvelled how “it would all come together in that one really special moment”.
In the same interview, Bailey was asked about his popular “slutty little glasses”, which, he said, were a nod to Richard Dreyfuss’ boffin character in the monster hit Jaws.
“In the [costume] fitting, I saw these and was, like, they’re brilliant.” The actor, who recently became the face of Martini, then teased an “exciting” collaboration with Cubitts, a brand of glasses he wears for real.
Jurassic World: Rebirth is due in cinemas on Wednesday (2 July).
