The Devil Wears Prada 2 has shared its first major update, as well as the first tantalising teaser for the upcoming sequel to the iconic 2006 film.

“Please, by all means, move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me.”

Is what audiences have been saying to 20th Century Studios for the last 19 years with regards to a sequel to 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada.

The flick, directed by David Frankel, boasted a cast of stars to make the MET Gala jealous, including Meryl Streep as fearsome fashion editor Miranda Priestly, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci as members of staff at Runway Magazine, and, of course, Anne Hathaway as naïve industry newbie turned baddie.

And despite being both a box office smash and a cult classic that saw Andi (Hathaway) rise through Runway‘s ranks before turning her back on the fashion world for her own good, news on a sequel has been thin on the ground – until now.

20th Century Studios shared (30 June) the first teaser for The Devil Wears Prada 2, and confirmed that the sequel is “now in production”. And as Miranda Priestly once said: “Everybody wants this.”

The clip, which sees two devil-heeled pumps, is accompanied by iconic quotes from the film.

Who will be in The Devil Wears Prada 2?

The question on most people’s lips is this: Will Meryl Streep be in The Devil Wears Prada 2?

And the answer, happily, is yes. According to The Guardian, Streep, Hathaway, Blunt and Tucci will all return for the sequel, accompanied by Kenneth Branagh as Miranda’s husband.

The publication also reports a brief plot synopsis for The Devil Wears Prada 2, which will see “Priestly dealing with the collapse of the magazine industry, now forced to build bridges with her one-time assistant Emily (Blunt) who is the head of a luxury brand and its advertising spend.”

In May this year, it was reported that the sequel was aiming for a May 2026 release date. It will again be directed by Frankel.

The film was turned into a stage musical, premiering on the West End in 2024 to mixed reviews.

That’s all.
