Fans thrilled as Heartstopper stars spotted filming for movie: ‘Never been so thankful for a delayed train’

Filming for the upcoming Heartstopper movie is well and truly underway, and stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke have been spotted filming an emotional reunion for their characters.
Fans of the sweet queer Netflix show were left on edge at the beginning of the year, wondering whether their favourite series would be greenlit for a fourth and final season.
As it turns out, it won’t be, as the fourth season is being turned into a feature-length Netflix film. And as recently revealed by the show’s production company See-Saw Films and creator Alice Oseman, filming for the Heartstopper flick has already begun.
While much of the filming has been kept under wrapped so far – Oseman shares a spoiler-free photo from the set each day via Instagram – fans have now seen some behind-the-scenes action as the stars recently took to the streets of Leeds to film some vital scenes.
At the end of season three, adorable young couple Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) and Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) were left uncertain about the future of their relationship, as Nick had to decide which university he wanted to attend, while Charlie would stay and complete his time at Truham Grammar School.
One of Nick’s options was indeed Leeds University, so it makes sense why Connor and Locke were spotted filming in Leeds recently.
In one clip posted on TikTok, the pair were spotted filming a sweet reunion at Leeds train station.
Connor is seen in the footage in Nick’s classic hoodie and jeans combo, while Locke also rocked jeans and a burgundy shirt.
“Never been so thankful for a delayed train,” wrote the TikTok user in their video’s caption.
“CHARLIE VISITING NICK AT UNI YESSS,” guessed another fan.
“SO NICK CHOOSES LEEDS UNIVERSITY???” yelled another fan.
Another clip of the moment shows the actors going in for a huge hug, and it’s evident that they’ve been apart for some time.
A third clip shows the pair hand in hand – Locke in another shirt, Connor in a vest top – walking through the Lower Briggate area in Leeds, which is home to a number of gay venues including Queen’s Court, as seen in the shared video.
The Heartstopper movie, which is the final instalment in the Heartstopper series, is expected to focus on how Charlie and Nick navigate a long distance relationship, and whether their romance can survive in the long-term.
The plot will be featured in the as yet unreleased sixth volume of Oseman’s Heartstopper graphic novel series.
