Sapphic singer-songwriter and all-around lesbian icon Reneé Rapp has so much game that she’s actually failed to stick to her promise to “not flirt as much”.
It’s hard to believe that someone as suave as Rapp wants to dial down on the flirting, but then again, she has been vocal about her girlfriend Towa Bird “outflirting” her.
Nonetheless, whilst undertaking Vanity Fair’s Lie Detector Test on Wednesday (16 July), the interviewer remarked that Rapp reportedly once said she’s “working on not flirting as much”. Rapp, a self-proclaimed “serial flirt”, was then asked how her change in attitude is going.
“Really? Not good. I can’t believe I said that,” she said, smiling at the interviewer whilst hooked up to the polygraph. To this, the interviewer asked whether Rapp ever “subconsciously flirts and regrets it”.
“I’m literally flirting with you right now,” said the “Why Is She Still Here?” singer, raising her eyebrows at the voice behind the camera. “You feel it.”
After admitting that she “totally” flirts with people while not meaning it, she was instructed to tell polygraph operator Judd, ‘that shirt really brings out your eyes. Where did you get it?’ without flirting.
“Judd,” she begins, turning to him and smiling. “I think I already f***ed up, honestly! Okay, wait, take two, I’m trying again.
“Judd, my friend, don’t look at me suggestively like that. That shirt really brings out your eyes,” she uttered this time in a serious tone. “Where did you get it?”
“I’m going to safely say from my wife,” he responded.
“Love, by the way love her,” Rapp continued. “I feel like I kind of crushed [it].”
Elsewhere in the interview, Rapp was asked whether she is “ever scared” of her fandom.
“All the f***ing time,” she responded. “I’ll tell you why: Have you ever seen a rabid bunch of white 16-year-old bisexuals unhappy?
“It’s the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced in my entire life.”Rapp explained. “I’ve had so many fights with people and no one, no one has ever managed to hurt my feelings the way that people in my fandom have.”
She turns to the camera and added, “Y’all are so intense. With all the love in the world, y’all scare the s*** out of me.”
