Married at First Sight UK‘s Ella Morgan and model and activist Munroe Bergdorf were among the stars at the London Trans+ Pride launch event.

The theme this year is Existence and Resistance, which comes in the wake of political attacks and the UK Supreme Court’s verdict on the definition of a “woman” under the 2010 Equality Act.

Marchers will gather in front of The Church of All Souls Langham Place from 1pm on Saturday (26 July), before setting off down Regent Street towards Piccadilly Circus.

Ahead of the event, celebrities and campaigners gathered at the Mandrake Hotel, in the West End, for the official launch on Friday (18 July). Morgan and Bergdorf were joined Heartstopper’s Bel Priestley, musician Romy and Sex Education star Anthony Lexa.

What It Feels Like for a Girl stars Hannah Jones and Alex Thomas-Smith also made appearances, as did youth activists from Trans Kids Deserve Better.

London Trans+ Pride co-founder Lewis G Burton told the audience: “We are here to remind [one another] that we’re not going anywhere, we are loved. These legislative things can come into place but you will not get rid of us. You cannot remove us from society,” The Standard reports.

Bergdorf reflected on what London Trans+ Pride meant to her, saying: “What I love so much about [it is] I arrive feeling stressed and leave feeling galvanised and seen and loved and held.”

This year’s marchers will be demanding a total ban on conversion therapy, fully-funded gender-affirming healthcare and legal recognition for non-binary people.

Last year, some a record 60,000 marchers took to the streets in solidarity with transgender and non-binary people across the world.
