Chappell Roan drops video teaser for upcoming single ‘The Subway’

Chappell Roan is considering moving to Saskatchewan, a province in Western Canada, in the first teaser for her single “The Subway.”

In the short clip released on Tuesday (23 July) the “Pink Pony Club” singer sings, “I made a promise if in four months this feeling ain’t gone I’ll f**k this city / I’m moving to Saskatchewan.”

The clip from the music video sees a licence plate reading “The Subway” attached to a moving van. We also glimpse Chappell’s red curls billowing out the driver’s side window and the van arriving in Saskatchewan.

It follows posters appearing recently which also teased a new song. One black and white poster sees Chappell almost completely covered up by a huge wig and facial hair.

Another poster shows the 27-year-old’s face with the wording, “Going through a break up? Get bangs!” above her fiery red locks. Fans have also noticed a tag on the second poster reading, “Best before August 1.”

The “Red Wine Supernova” singer was also spotted donning a Rapunzel-esque wig while filming something earlier this month. Fans who witnessed the sight reported hearing Chappell’s “unreleased fan favourite song ‘The Subway’.”

“The Subway” was played throughout Chappell’s The Midwest Princess Tour last year. Ever since fans have been desperate for an official version of the heartbreak anthem. “I’m still counting down all of the days ‘til you’re just another girl on the subway,” Chappell sings in the song.

But in April the singer revealed she had been struggling to record the song. “I’ve been banging my head against the wall with ‘The Subway,’ because… some songs just work live – certain things work live – and they don’t work in the studio,” she told the Las Culturistas podcast.
