Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle are set to rekindle their romance with a passionate scene in an upcoming episode of Emmerdale.
The storyline for the former husbands, played by Ryan Hawley and Danny Miller respectively, will take a new turn after Robert kissed Aaron on the latter’s wedding day to John Sugden.
Next week, John steps up his plan to get rid of Robert by exaggerating a recent outburst from his half-brother, who is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from his time in prison, and which is re-ignited by Robert’s son Harry’s drumming.
John manages to turn Victoria Sugden against Robert, leaving the man feeling isolated and “in a dark place,” according to ITV.

With John gloating over him, Robert goes berserk and smashes up his room. This is overheard by Aaron who calms his ex-partner down before admitting that he pushed his ex away because of his own unresolved feelings. That leads to much more…
Later, Robert tells a conflicted Aaron that they were meant to be together.
Meanwhile, John’s evil deeds appear to be catching up with him as the murder investigation into Liam Nate’s death is reopened. So, when Aaron, who is unaware of what his new husband has done, suggests the pair flee the village, John is on board.

Speaking to Radio Times, Hawley said: “[Robert kind of breaks down in Aaron’s arms, then we cut to the scene downstairs, when Robert says it’s time for him to go, and that he needs to move on, he shouldn’t have come back.”
Hawley described the love scene as a “‘take it as it is, just this moment kind of thing”, adding: “They even say to each other, ‘We don’t want to think about any of that now, the circumstances… it’s complicated. It is what it is right now, and we’ll see from there’.”
The actor was coy about what the developments could mean in the long term but teased: “It kind of leads into the next phase of the story.”
And as for how Robert would react if Aaron does leave the village, Hawley said: “He’d be devastated… “he came back to the village for [him], in truth.”
Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV1 from 7.30pm and is available to stream on ITVX.
