“The Middle” singer Maren Morris has condemned a fan who “grabbed [her] ass” during a recent meet-and-greet event.

Writing on Instagram Stories on 22 August, Morris said that the incident wouldn’t prevent her from hosting future meet-and-greets, but asked her supporters to be mindful of her “personal space”.

“Hi y’all. Tonight’s show was so fun, but someone grabbed my ass during [the] meet-and-greet before the show,” she wrote.

“I’m going to continue them because one person shouldn’t ruin it for everyone, but please know I’m there to connect, share, hug, all the things but please don’t override someone’s personal space. love you.”

Maren Morris is currently performing on The Dreamsicle Tour across North America, in support of her fourth album Dreamsicle, which was released back in May. She was at her tour stop in Michigan when the fan “grabbed [her] ass”.

Last June, to mark Pride Month, the “Scissors” singer came out as bisexual, eight months after filing for divorce from fellow singer-songwriter and her previous collaborator, Ryan Hurd.

Speaking with TZR magazine earlier this year, Morris explained that she had “always known” that she is bisexual.

“I’ve always known that I am attracted to men and women,” she said.

“I think because I’ve been in straight relationships the last 15 years of my life, which has been consumed by my music career and living in Nashville, I never felt brave enough to talk about it.”

She continued: “That was just a facet of me that I didn’t think I wanted private anymore. I wanted to be able to connect with my fans and my queer community.

“Especially in a time where you’re in this free-for-all post-divorce reckoning, community has been so necessary for me and life-saving. Being honest and being vulnerable is the only way that you find community.”

On Dreamsicle, Morris addresses her first sexual experiences with women via the song “Push Me Over” which she co-wrote with queer band MUNA.

“We can test out my hypothesis / Your hands, my hips,” she sings on the opening verse.

“Can you take control? Show me where to go / Ain’t been here before / Don’t know what it is, but I like the flavour.”

Dreamsicle is out now.
