Gaga makes an appearance in the upcoming series as the mysterious and enigmatic Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday Addams.
Ortega, who’s also a producer on the show, said her transformation into the teacher was seamless.
‘It really works’
She told Tudum by Netflix: “If you’re into Wednesday, if you’re into Lady Gaga, you should be very excited to see her in part two, it really works. She’s unbelievable. She’s one of the few, rare instances of someone who is so clearly doing what they’re meant to be doing. Just being able to watch her and take her in is a surreal experience.”
Director and producer Tim Burton also praised Gaga’s performance: “I’ve been a fan of her work for a long time. She makes great music, and she’s a great actress, so for me it was very easy,” he tells Tudum. “She’s a real artist, and I’m grateful for what she contributed to the show.”
Gaga told Tudum: “I’m thrilled to release this song alongside Wednesday. I’m a huge fan of the show and had so much fun appearing in it to support ‘The Dead Dance.’”
She teased that the inspiration for the song was a breakup, and the way people can feel after it’s over.
“It’s got this really cool, funky beat underneath it. And that is when the song becomes not just about the relationship; it becomes about having fun with your friends when you’ve been through something tough and amazing. I can’t wait for people to listen to it,” Gaga concluded.
