Gay Marvel superhero Billy Maximoff aka Wiccan, who was recently portrayed by Joe Locke in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series Agatha All Along, is to appear in his first solo comic series.
Wiccan: Witches’ Road is a five-issue Marvel series that follows Wanda Maximoff’s son Billy Kaplan, also known as Wiccan. It’s been written by Wyatt Kennedy and Andy Pereira and follows on from the Imperial storyline as the hero take a “spellbinding trip” down the Witches’ Road to save the life of his husband, Teddy Altman/Hulkling.
Along the way, he has to face a “new enemy and discover his unique role in protecting Earth from magical threats,” according to Marvel.

“Something Wiccan this way comes! A dark, macabre adventure awaits down the Witches’ Road that will reshape Wiccan and the magical fabric of the Marvel Universe for ever,” a synopsis read.
“Wiccan and Hulkling arrive back on Earth but nothing is ever easy for Marvel’s favourite (former) space emperors. With Hulkling grievously wounded, it’s up to Wiccan to save the day. But what lengths will he be willing to go, to do so?”
Kennedy said it was “a real thrill” to help write the series and take Wiccan “in such an unexpected direction and put him out of his element”, before hinting at “a surprising ally… I know fans have been wanting to see”.

The Wiccan series also follows on from the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Agatha All Along, which featured Heartstopper star Joe Locke as Billy. Ever since the character joined the Young Avengers in the comics, he’s been a fan-favourite and one of Marvel’s most recognisable LGBTQ+ characters.
Billy accompanied Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn, down the Witches’ Road in a bid to regain her powers after the events of WandaVision.
Wiccan: Witches’ Road #1 will be available on 3 December and is available for pre-order now.
